DUDU(noun)

A slang word used to refer to a light-skinned/fair complexioned person. Can also be used to describe someone with very little to no facial hair, meaning that they have smooth or 'oily' skin. Root –Urdu/ Panjabi

Someone who sticks to you like glue. And you just can't stand it. Cause great irritation Root - Urdu

CHIPKU (noun)

PAKAO(Adjective)
Literally - to cook. Used in the context of getting one's brain fried by something boring, annoying, or repetitive. Root- Urdu

KHARA ZEHR (adjective)
Unique mix of two words from two different dialects combined to form Khara (Marwari = Bitter) & Zehr (Urdu = Poison)Means something that is unique and different. It is an adverb but used mostly as adjective. Root - Multiple

LADDU (Noun)
Laddu comes from the Sanskrit word transliterated as ladduka or lattika meaning a small ball. One of the earliest mentions of laddu is in a twelfth-century Gujarati manuscript. Laddu is consumed in large quantities among Dakhni families at major life events such as related to weddings, births etc..Root - Hindi/Urdu

It is one of the common vegetable at the market with various verities and not to mention the shapes....frankly speaking, the long brinjal usually refers to the human tool, dick or in simple words penis, which is again common to all the male species on earth.....so, its the most common slang too....hence the baigan becomes the dick and so does all the dick talk.... so when someone says “baigan …..”, adding with unfamiliar or unknown usage, he is actually referring to the dick and the words or vocabulary associated with it...
baigan ke baal........Meaning penis/dick hair
baigan ke baatan......Unmannerly, impolite , uncivil, vulgar, obscenity talk.
baigan ke kaama.......Act or work related to sex or sexual activities.

where par means hair, kat= cut and 'i' denotes that the subject is female. Root - Urdu

CHIPKALI (noun)
A wall gecko commonly found in Indian homes. This term comes from the sound the gecko makes. Root -Urdu

KOKKA (noun)
Speakers of Konkani language. Residents of the region of Konkan. Called 'Kokke' in Kannada which means 'Hook' which is the shape of number '7' .Root - Kannada

Literally, "one who loafs around." Person appearing to have copious amounts of time without much of a strategic inclination about how to spend it; used as a term of endearment. The Indian loafer can be loafing from a position of weakness (unemployment etc.) Root - Multiple

Used to call a fat/plump person. It is not a negative term, in fact it's affectionately used amongst friends or family.

RUSTHUM (adjective)
A person who is so strong physically. Root - Telugu

SHOWKI LAL (adjective)
A fellow who shows off too much, by dressing up full in jing chak ishtyle.. spends too much on showing off... Root - Kannada

TAKLA (noun)
A Bald person. Root Urdu/Hindi

ULLU KA PATHA (phrase)
Means "Son of an owl." Used as curse to belittle someone who is acting like a stupid person . Root - Urdu

KADDU (noun)
This term to describe someone who is not acts tough or is not considered a leader of others. Typically this person may be dumb, or socially inept or a wallflower. Root urdu/ Hindi

KANJOOS MAKKHICHOOS (adjective)
Extremely stingy. Tightwad. Skinflint. Kanjoos means stingy. But it's the second word - Makkhi-Choos - that gives this delightfully alliterative phrase it's primal power. The word Makhichoos means "To suck a fly" and alludes to the apocryphal story about a stingy shopkeeper who retrieved a housefly that had fallen into a tub of ghee, and then proceeded to suck the ghee from the body of the fly. DADA BHAI (noun)
He is the elder son of the family and the leading member on behalf of father. Literally ‘dada’ means grandfather. Root - Urdu

BEHANJI (noun)
Commonly used to called a honorable women, in other words a salwar - kameez wearing good Muslim woman i.e. in a traditional outlook. Root - Urdu

BHAADKHAU (noun)
Marathi expletive indicating a spineless, non self respecting, scavenging individual. Living off the earnings of a prostitute.Combination of words 'Bhaad' i.e. short form for the word bhaadya, which in turn is a short form of bhadva meaning pimp & 'Khaa' i.e. to eat. Usage of the word in day-to-day context is rather free of its actual meaning. Used as merely a scolding for an annoying action. Root - Marathi

BHADVA( noun)
Literary meaning is pimp. This is a low grade term used in scolding boys. Use within family and avoid on others in public function.Root - Marathi

CHAPPAL CHOR (noun)

A beggar -male/ female. They wear torn clothes and are often very dirty looking and unkempt. Root - Urdu

BHUKKAD (adjective)
Someone who is perennially (in long time) hungry and seems to be blessed with a bottomless pit for a stomach.

BAYILVAAN (noun)
Muscular body guy/Wrestler/ Gym body/Strong guy. Root - Urdu/Tamil

PEHELWAAN (noun).
Muscular body guy/Wrestler/ Gym body/Strong guy. It is not pronounced much in Tamil. Root - Urdu

BAWARIA (adjective)
True meaning idiot, but the term is used to call the wife or beloved. Root - Urdu

BESHARAM (adjective)
Shameless fellow. 'Sharam' is shame, and the prefix 'be' means without. Root - Urdu

CHADDI (noun)
Long knickers worn in place of underwear i.e. by old men, rural men and generally men from the last century. typically blue,green & white stripes. Usually worn under a dhoti or lungi; typically such that 60% of chaddi is visible by raising the dhoti and tucking into said knicker's waistline. Root – Kannada.

DAAVAT (noun)
Usually in our community it means invitation, but actually it means feast. A davat is party or get together of people, typically in the Muslim context, where food is provided to guests. In the Islamic contexts, usually a davat event has some religious texts being read and reflected upon.Root- Urdu.
Rooted in the Arabic word Dawah, or da'wah. Usage- My family is hosting a davat for our community this weekend.

ATISH BAAZI (Phrase).
An act of firing several fire crackers at a time. Mostly prevalent at the time of Diwali. Root - Urdu

PHOOL JHARI (noun)
The most puskee pataka ever. In Malayalam " mesha poov" Root - Urdu

PATAKA (noun)
Literally means fire cracker can also mean an item just like fire cracker. Root - Urdu

PATAKI (noun)
A small noise making firecracker. (Used to describe a hot woman.) Root - Urdu

CHAKREE (noun)
A pataka literally means, when lit goes round and round on the floor on its center and gets you all excited. Root - Urdu

SHAMIANA (noun)
Shaadi ka mandwa. Big colourful tent ( like “pandal”) used in India for weddings Root - unknown ( Persian ?)

JUGALBANDI (noun)
A jugalbandi is a beautiful word that comes from Urdu which means "entwined twins." It is a performance of Indian classical music when two soloists typically from different musical traditions (eg. one from Carnatic and one from Hindustani) play a duet and playfully compete. The defining characteristic of the Jugalbandi is that no one musician dominates. They strive to create beautiful harmony. The most famous instance of the Jugalbandi was between Ravi Shankar and sarod player Ali Akbar Khan.Root - Urdu

KHICHDI (noun)

NIMBOO PANI (Noun)
Lime juice. This beverage is made from sour limes, sugar water and ice and is available across india especially in the summer months. Nimboo means lime and pani means water in Urdu. Root - Urdu

HING (Noun) This is a regular condiment, used by way of seasoning in oil usually along with mustard in most vegetable dishes like curry, soup, rasam, sambar, chutney and pickle in India.When used as seasoning it's odor turns into an unbelievably welcome aroma. Root - unknown)

PEEPAYEE( adjective)
Actually the word means barrel. But, most often peepayee is used to allude to a guzzler of alcoholic drinks, who doesn't shake even if he consumes barrel amounts of the drink. It has been compiled from various sources but chiefly from the Khazina-e- Muhawarat (1912),by D.C.Phillott & Urdu dictionary, Farhang-i-Asafiyya.Idioms that are not fairly common have been omitted.Idioms are an integral part of any lexicon. Teaching of idioms across the languages is not a new phenomenon; such studies have been undertaken by language teachers before. Some salient features of South Dakhni…

Kaiku –why instead of Kyon in traditional Urdu Eg. Kaiku gaya un? (Why did he go? )

Mujhe – Me instead of Mereku in Hyderabadi Urdu Eg. Mujhe malum nai. (I don’t know. )

Tujhe – You instead of Tereku in Hyderabadi Urdu Eg. Tujhe malum kya? (Do you know? )

Uney/Iney – he/she instead of Woh/Yeh in traditional Urdu Eg. Uney kidhar gaya? (Where did he go? ) of Ko in traditional Urdu Eg. Iqbal ku khana hona kate. (Iqbal wants food. )

Ku – For instead 

Ko – Ke in traditional Urdu Eg. Iqbal ku deko aavo. (Iqbal ko deke aavo in traditional Urdu meaning Give it to Iqbal and come back here. )

Po – On instead of Pe or Per in traditional Urdu Eg. Kitab table po hai. ( The book is on the table. )

Si – From instead of Se in traditional Urdu Eg. Sab si alag hai unay. ( He’s different from everyone. )

Nakko – An alternate (and informal) negative generally indicating “no thanks” or “do not”. Can be (and is often) used in place of mat.

Naheen, Naa and mat (from traditional Urdu) are still used where nakko is inappropriate for the context or in polite situations. Eg. Khana nakko mujhe. ( I don’t want food. )

Hau or Ho – For yes, instead of “Haan”.

Potti – (slang; rather offensive) – Girl

Potta – (slang; rather offensive) – Boy

Khan – Man Eg. Chalao khan. ( Let’s go, man.), Khan bhai kya hai ?. Khan sahib kaisey ho?

Halka – It means Slow Eg. Zara halka chalo bawa. ( Will you walk a bit slow? )

Kate – It’s hard to describe the actual meaning as it’s used in various sentences under various circumstances. Eg. Kaiku kate? ( Why? ); Iqbal ku khana hona kate. (Iqbal wants food.)

Baat chabaa jaana – To check oneself in a speech, i.e. to pull up on some recollection and keep one’s counsel.

Barrey per charhana – To incite or allure by specious promises.
Beegi billi – Outwardly miserable like a soaked cat, but really mischievou.

Beegi murghi  ki tarh – inactive like a soaked hen

Bhains ke aagey been bajaana – To cast pearls before swine; (been = flute)

Bay par ki (khaber) urhana – to spread a groundless rumour ; also said of an amusing liar.

Bey jhod bey khafiyah - Incongruous ( not ridiculously so); used of sights, speeches,etc.

Bey hayayi ka burkha mooh per lena –To be brazenly shameless.

Peeda  utaana – To undertake a mission or any big business. ( Formerly the man who volunteered picked up the prepared paan leaf as a ssign)

Bey nakht sunana -  To abuse  (gaali dena)

Bey waqt ki shahnaayi –To do a thing out of season

Bel  mandhey charhna – To be successful. ( Bel-creeper, and mandha its trellis work for climbing up)

Dakhni Slang / Lingo  (Dakhni  Deliciousness)

Khatna-(Noun)

Definition- Circumcision -Khatna is the term for male circumcision carried out as an Islamic rite. Islam is currently the largest single religious group in which the practice is widespread, and although circumcision is not mentioned in the Qur’an, it is contained in the Hadees

Usage- Munna, tuje disnay nai, kidar tha, ? Bhaiyya,mera khatna hua, do din aaspataal may tha, teen-chaar din ghar may baita.

Mircan ka aatta (Noun)

Definition- Mircan ka aatta evolved from “American’s ka atta’ – in Malayalam Amerikkan mavu- Used by our baap daada (forefathers ), now we used simply maida which refers to refined flour.

Usage- Mirkan ke atte jaise khila soorat hai, Abdul ki beevi ka- Itni gori hain din may dikhayi nah dey!

Root- Hyderabadi/Dakhni , and widely used in India

Aashna / Aashni-(Noun)

Definition- A dakhni usage turned to an Urdu word, meaning ‘good friend’, widely used in India, Pakistan. It also means, beautiful and intelligent.Mera aashna / Meri aashni – Means my good friend.

Orgin- Arabic and in Arabic Ashna means khushbo, khubsoorat,gender feminine. It is transplanted to north India, from Deccan via Dakhni language

Usage- Arey ashraf, meri bhaan ki aashni, tere aashney key saath bhaag ker shaadi karli hai-

Kaiku (Phrase)

Definition- Literal meaning – Why?The same in Hindi pronounce as KAIKO, this is defining the “why” instead of Kyon.The actual ‘why’ in Hindi and Urdu is ‘KYON.’

Usage- Bol , kaiku usay maara. – Kaikooray amma ko sataya?

Baiko (noun)

Definition- It means LADY. Meri baiko – my wife, In Urdu, Meri Aurath is equal to this, In Malayalam- Ente Pennu, It means my wife.This word is mostly used by Marathaas, and added to Dakhni language. Widely used in South India, Maharashtra, Gujarat

Usage- Ghar ki Baiko kidar hai? – Baiko bachchey ko adab, zyaada ho tau achcha.

Maatimila- (Adjective.)

Definition- A profanity uttered by ‘paan’ chewing “saasuma’s”usually addressing the root cause of all their woes Literally meaning the ‘condemned one’ or someone who should be dead and buried – ‘Mitti se mil jaana wala’
Usage- Itne saare mehmaanon leke aaya, bola bhi nahi ‘MAATIMILA’, ab pakwaan se meri kamar tootegi

Definition-  Mostly a DAKHANI word used extensively all over Andhra , Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Dakhni families of Kerala….HALLU, means slowly or smoothly
Usage- Bayya zara HALLU gaadi ko dakal; Jab chota zorsay bola tau bada bola- HALLU bolray.
